FED: Passengers warned of rowdy schoolie cruise

SYDNEY, Dec 8 AAP - Several security guards have joined a South Pacific cruise full
of school leavers in a bid to prevent a repeat of last week's rowdy cruise.

Five school leavers were kicked off the the Fair Princess, which arrived back in Sydney
last night, P&O Australian spokesman John Richardson said.

The cruise was made up of about 1,000 school leavers and about 200 other passengers, he said.

Mr Richardson said a number of passengers had complained they were not told the cruise
would be full of school leavers.

Travel agents were supposed to tell passengers that there would be a large number of
young school leavers on board, but many had not done so, he said.

"We do not consider that to be appropriate behaviour by the agents," Mr Richardson said.

"We reminded them of their obligation to inform people.

"Another cruise went out last night, we made contact with everyone over the age of
30 and notified them a large number of school leavers would be on the cruise.

"As a result only half a dozen decided not to travel."

Several security guards yesterday joined the outbound cruise in a bid to prevent further
trouble, he said.

Mr Richardson said only a small minority of passengers on the previous cruise misbehaved.

"Most of the passengers enjoyed themselves and had a great time without taking things
to excess," he said.
