Fed: Legal status of Job Network solid Abbott
CANBERRA, Feb 9 AAP - The legal status of the Job Network is solid, Employment Services
Minister Tony Abbott said today as he challenged Labor's claims to the contrary.
The Federal Opposition claims the network, under which assistance for job seekers is
contracted out to job provision agencies, is illegal.
Labor's acting employment and training spokesman Lindsay Tanner said yesterday
he had obtained a Queensland QC's opinion indicating the Job Network was illegal, because
it contravened the Employment Services Act 1994.
