ALBANY -- Scott Beeten owns bragging rights from the prep school game 35 years ago, but those rights won't be worth much tonight.

Now it's Howie Dickenman who has the upper hand with a basketball program that Beeten, the new University at Albany coach, is trying to emulate.

The Great Danes will make their regular season debut under Beeten when they face powerful Central Connecticut State in the first round of the Mohegan Sun Classic tonight at 8 in New Britain, Conn.

Columbia of the Ivy League faces Division III Catholic University in the other first-round game.
